KH-96792TS - Nha Trang

KH-96792TS, or "The Fishing Boat," as we’ve always called it, sits upright in about 14 metres of water just off Hon Mun. It’s a purposeful sinking, a steel-hulled fishing vessel that went down in 2018, so it’s still relatively young, but already quite encrusted. For a shallow wreck, it offers a surprising amount to poke around in, especially for photographers looking for an interesting foreground. We love dropping down onto the wheelhouse, seeing the light spill through the open doorways. Inside, you’ll often find glassy sweepers schooling, darting away as you fin closer. The deck is home to a resident population of lionfish, casually finning about, and we’ve spotted moray eels peeking from under plating. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for those wanting to try wreck diving without strong currents or deep penetration, though we always recommend caution around any overhead environment. Our favourite tip? Go early in the morning; the water is usually calmer, and the light plays beautifully off the superstructure.
