Nam Khánh 26 - Nha Trang

Nam Khánh 26, sitting just offshore in Nha Trang, is a quirky one. It’s barely a dive in terms of depth, maxing out at five metres, but we love it for its sheer accessibility and surprising character. This old fishing trawler, a victim of a typhoon back in the early 2000s, broke up into two main sections. The bow section is our favourite, still quite intact, and it’s become a home for so much small stuff. You can swim right through the wheelhouse, feeling the cooler water inside as you pass. The stern is a bit more broken, scattered across the sandy bottom, but it’s where we often spot some decent-sized lionfish tucked away amongst the twisted metal. Schools of tiny glassfish shimmer around the mast, and we’ve even seen small cuttlefish hunting here on occasion. It’s a brilliant spot for macro photographers or anyone who just wants a relaxed dip without the need for much deco. We’d suggest going early morning before the day boats get too busy; the light hits the wreck beautifully then, illuminating all the nooks and crannies. It’s a super chill dive, more of a snorkel with tanks really, but always fun.
