The team at Bucket List Diver are your no-nonsense guides to the best of WA’s southern coast. We’ve always appreciated their straightforward approach, focusing on solid PADI instruction without the usual fluff. If you’re looking to get certified, from your first breaths underwater to reaching Divemaster, they run a tight ship. We’d suggest them particularly for newer divers keen to build confidence, or anyone wanting a relaxed, unpretentious diving holiday. They’re based in a cracking part of the world, and we love how they champion the local sites. Forget the crowded spots up north; down here, you’ll find temperate reefs bustling with unique critters. On a good day, the visibility can stretch to 20 metres, shafts of sunlight piercing through to illuminate schools of old wives and sweep. Keep an eye out for the endemic Western Blue Devilfish, lurking in the kelp – they’re a treat to spot. Our favourite experience with them was a shore dive, a bit of a walk in, but rewarded with a sheltered bay full of cuttlefish displaying their colour changes. Just be mindful that the water here is cooler than the tropics; a decent 7mm wetsuit is your friend, even in summer. They know these waters intimately, and that local knowledge is invaluable.
