Joanne’s Sunchi (J) - Klein Bonaire

Don't let the "house reef" tag fool you; the Mayan Princess site has real charm, especially for a relaxed afternoon dive or a good shore entry. We love that it’s right there, a quick roll off the sand, straight into a gentle slope of sand patches and coral heads that drop to about 22m. It’s not Turneffe Atoll, no, but we always find something interesting here. Keep an eye out for those tiny little post horn squid, they’re masters of disguise, often just hanging out near the staghorn coral. The Green Turtles are practically residents; we’ve seen them munching away on the seagrass or just cruising by, totally unbothered. The visibility often hits 20m, even with a little afternoon chop, making it easy to spot the nurse sharks tucked under ledges or a shy Gulf Toadfish peering from a crevice. This site is perfect for shaking off travel rust, a low-key second dive, or for those just starting their diving journey. It’s also our pick for a night dive, when the Dusky Cones and Antillean Tusk Shells come alive.
