Twin Tugs - Carriacou
Twin Tugs in Carriacou is just pure fun. We love it because it’s so accessible, sitting at 12-18m on a sandy bottom, making it a perfect spot for newer divers or those who just want a relaxed potter around. You’ve got two tugboats, the *Alexandria* and the *Betty G*, sunk side-by-side, creating this fantastic artificial reef. Drop down and you're instantly in the action. The wrecks aren’t massive, but they’re still substantial enough to swim around and peer into. We always find ourselves captivated by the light filtering through the wheelhouses – it’s a lovely, almost cathedral-like effect. Look closely and you’ll spot American Pugnose Pipefish tucked into crevices and Longspine Squirrelfish hanging out in the darker corners. French Grunts form dense schools off the bow, occasionally parting for a curious Yellowhead Wrasse. Visibility here is generally excellent, often 20m plus, so you get a really clear view of both wrecks at once. Our tip: go in the late afternoon. The light hits the wrecks beautifully then, making for some excellent photos, and the Dusky Damselfish are particularly active. It’s a genuinely joyful dive, not challenging, just easy exploration with plenty to see without feeling rushed.
