Sherwood Forest - Southwest Coast

The Toho II is a local favourite, a 55-meter longliner sunk intentionally in Prony Bay. It sits upright, bow to the surface, and maxes out at about 21 metres deep. We love this wreck for its accessibility and the sheer density of life that calls it home. You can spend a good chunk of a dive exploring the bridge and the cargo hold, where light filters in through the openings, illuminating schools of tiny sweepers. We nearly always find a turtle resting on the bow, completely unbothered, and a resident school of trevally circles the mast. Visibility here can swing, averaging around 17 metres, but we’ve seen it drop to five after heavy rain, or open up to 25 metres on a good day. Dive it on an incoming tide for the best chance at clearer water. Even with lower visibility, the structure of the wreck is easy to follow, and the life is right there. Look for horned sea snakes winding through the coral growth on the deck, and a surprising number of big groupers lurking in the shadows. The stern has these interesting boulders, remnants of an old US Army pontoon, now covered in soft corals. It's an easy wreck dive, perfect for anyone looking to potter around a structure teeming with fish, without needing advanced certs.
