We’re talking about proper reef diving here, with walls that just drop away into the blue. Our favourite is a site we call "Manta Avenue," which is exactly what it sounds like – if the conditions are right, you can see these big guys gliding through the channel. Visibility often pushes past 25 metres, and you really feel the ocean's power on some of the outer reef sites. The currents can be swift, so be prepared for some drift diving, but that’s often what brings in the bigger pelagics. Keep an eye out for grey reef sharks patrolling the edges and schools of jacks swirling in the deeper water. They run small, personal groups, so you never feel rushed, and the guides are brilliant at spotting the smaller stuff, too.
