Subsurface Musket Cove Resort - Kadavu & Great Astrolabe Reef

The team at Subsurface Musket Cove Resort, operating out of the Kadavu mainland, really understands what makes diving the Great Astrolabe special. They’re excellent for anyone looking for that proper, unhurried Fijian dive experience, especially if you appreciate the rhythm of boat diving in a less-trodden area. We think they’re a solid pick for divers who want to put in some serious bottom time on those outer reef systems. We love that they’re one of the main outfits exploring the Astrolabe, meaning they know its moods and its residents intimately. On a good day, diving with them feels like you’ve got the whole reef to yourselves – just you, the boat, and the sound of your own regulator. We’ve had some incredible encounters here, particularly with manta rays gliding through the channels, their wings almost brushing us as they pass. The coral walls along the Astrolabe are truly impressive, dropping down into the deep blue, and we’ve seen schools of surgeonfish so dense they look like a shimmering curtain. Their PADI 5-Star status means the training is top-notch, ideal if you're thinking of advancing your skills in a truly stunning environment. We’d suggest chatting with them about currents before you book, as the Astrolabe can get a good push, making for some exhilarating drift dives but something to be aware of if you’re newer to it.
