Maftah - Diani Beach & South Coast

Pangabatang South, we think, offers some of the most dynamic drift diving in Flores. You drop in and immediately feel that push, sailing past a slope absolutely packed with coral. We particularly love the huge sea fans and sponges that dominate the landscape, lending a real sense of scale. The current keeps things interesting, revealing new nooks and crannies as you glide along. Down at around 20 meters, before the reef drops away, a sandy plateau materialises. This is often where we spot the larger pelagics – reef sharks cruising through, the occasional eagle ray gliding by, and we’ve certainly seen our share of big turtles here. Keep an eye out for humphead parrotfish munching away too. The drift itself is a relaxed pace usually, making it a great pick for divers who enjoy covering ground without working too hard. Just go with the flow and see what appears.
