Deep - Vaavu Atoll
The team at Deep are the real deal, operating out of Vaavu Atoll and putting together some seriously good diving. We love their focus on getting you to the *best* spots, not just the easiest. If you're looking for big pelagics and an early start to beat the crowds, these are your people. Our favourite site they hit regularly is Fotteyo Kandu. Dropping in there feels like flying – the current pulls you along as grey reef sharks patrol the channel, sometimes twenty of them in a single glance. Keep an eye out for the resident eagle rays cruising past the overhangs. We’d suggest going early, before the other boats arrive, to really soak it all in. The colours in the morning light, as the sun penetrates the top reef, are something else. Deep are also brilliant for night diving. Alimatha Jetty at night, for example, is just bonkers. Nurse sharks and massive stingrays come right up to you under the lights. It’s a sensory overload, in the best possible way. They run a tight ship, no fuss, just good diving.
