Guinjata Dive Centre - Bazaruto Archipelago
The team at Guinjata Dive Centre are serious about their diving, and it shows. This isn't a glossy resort operation; it's a genuine dive camp experience, run by people who live and breathe the ocean. We love the laid-back, rustic vibe here; it feels like you're truly escaping the everyday. If you’re a diver who values passionate guides, raw encounters with big pelagics, and evenings spent swapping stories under the stars over fancy cocktails, then Guinjata is absolutely your kind of place. Out on the water, the focus is firmly on the big stuff, particularly Manta Reef. We’ve had some incredible moments there, often starting with the sound of snapping shrimp and then seeing the outlines of mantas emerge from the blue. The currents can be lively, so be ready for some proper drift diving. Our favourite time to be in the water here is early morning, just as the sun warms the surface, before any other boats arrive. During whale season, from June to November, you’ll hear the humpbacks singing on nearly every dive, a deep, resonant hum that vibrates through your chest. Above water, the sight of a breaching whale while you’re kitting up is just magic. They offer PADI courses, but we’d suggest coming here once you’ve got a few dives under your belt to really appreciate the more advanced sites.
