PRODUCE - KwaZulu-Natal

PRODUCE is one of our favourite Aliwal Shoal wrecks for a good reason. It’s not just a big chunk of metal; it feels like a living, breathing part of the reef now, completely colonised since its sinking in '74. The sheer scale of this tanker is impressive at 170 metres long. You drop down, and it just keeps going, a dark, hulking mass that materialises from the blue. We love heading straight for the bow, often seeing huge potato bass patrolling the rusted plating, their eyes following you. The currents here can be a bit frisky, so we always suggest paying close attention to your guide and dive computer, especially if you plan to penetrate. Inside, it's dark and cavernous, with light shafts piercing through collapsed sections – look for scorpionfish tucked into crevices. This wreck is perfect for experienced divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a current. It’s an adventure.
