Dive Time Zanzibar - Zanzibar & Pemba
The team at Dive Time Zanzibar are exactly who you want showing you around these waters. They’ve been exploring the reefs of Menai Bay for years, and it shows in their quiet confidence and the way they anticipate what the currents are going to do. We love that they focus on smaller groups, which means less fin-kicking chaos and more chances to really soak in a dive. If you’re looking for a dive shop that feels more like diving with friends than a commercial operation, this is our pick for Zanzibar. They operate primarily out of Fumba on Unguja, putting you right on the doorstep of the Menai Bay Conservation Area. We’ve had some truly fantastic dives here, often spotting schools of humphead parrotfish munching on coral, and the occasional green turtle gliding past. On a good day, the visibility can push 20 metres, painting the reef in bright blues and purples. Our favourite tip? Ask them about their trips over to Pemba. It's a longer journey, but the reefs there are genuinely wilder, with massive gorgonian fans and even stronger chances of spotting pelagics like barracuda or reef sharks cruising by. Just be ready for some current; that’s where the big stuff hangs out.
