Zanzibar Watersports @ Kendwa Rocks - Zanzibar & Pemba

The team at Zanzibar Watersports @ Kendwa Rocks are the kind of people you want to dive with. They’re based right there on Kendwa Beach, which we think is one of the best spots to launch from on the whole island – easy beach access, no long boat rides just to get to the boat. We’ve found their instructors have a knack for making new divers feel completely at ease. If you’re looking to get your PADI Open Water, or even just a Discover Scuba Dive, this is a top choice. What we really appreciate about Zanzibar Watersports is their local knowledge. They hit a good dozen or so sites regularly, and they’re good at picking the right one for the day's conditions. We’ve seen some incredible things out with them: Napoleon wrasse cruising by, reef sharks patrolling the deeper sections, and once, a huge school of barracuda swirling above us near Tumbatu Island. They run a tight ship, safety-wise, but it always feels relaxed. After your dive, you’re back on Kendwa Beach, which, let's be honest, is a pretty sweet place to debrief with a cold drink. We’d suggest going early in the morning; the water often feels calmer, and you beat the midday sun.
