Sand Banks
Why dive here
With 312+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blue-spotted stingrays, dolphins, eagle rays and hammerhead sharks - Sand Banks offers some of Zanzibar & Pemba's richest diving. Water ranges 26-30°C, warmest February, March, April.
Sand Banks, just as the name suggests, is mostly about the sandy bottom and the creatures that call it home. We’ve found pygmy pipehorses, various nudibranchs, and sometimes a few cuttlefish out here. It’s a great spot for macro enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys a slower, more deliberate dive looking for the smaller details often overlooked on reef dives. Conditions are usually pretty calm.
