MOTOZATTERA - Corsica

The Motozattera wreck, sitting at 60 meters, is a proper technical dive, and one we absolutely love in Corsica. This isn't a site for beginners; it demands good trim, solid gas management, and a calm head. The wreck itself is a landing craft, sunk during World War II, and it's remarkably intact for its age and depth. We find ourselves drawn to the bow, where the ramp still looms, almost ready to deploy. Inside, penetration is an option for properly trained wreck divers, but even an external exploration offers plenty. You'll see schools of barracuda hanging in the blue, occasionally darting into the holds, and the deeper sections are often patrolled by large groupers. The sheer size of the vessel, combined with the Mediterranean’s usual good visibility, makes for a truly impressive dive, but keep a close eye on your no-decompression limits down there. Our favourite time to dive it is early morning, before any potential boat traffic kicks up, when the light filtering through the surface seems to give the whole wreck a ghostly glow.
