HMS CAMBRIAN - Crete

The HMS Cambrian isn’t about big pelagics or technicolor reefs, it's about history you can touch. Sunk in 1828 during an assault on a pirate fortress, this 46.9m frigate now sits upright in just 12 meters of water. We love a wreck where you can really feel the story, and the Cambrian delivers. You’ll see her timbers, still remarkably intact, draped in sponges and soft corals. Schools of damselfish shimmer around her gunports, and we've often spotted octopuses peeking from crevices within the hull. Our favourite part? The bow section, still majestic, where the light plays beautifully through the water. It’s an easy, rewarding dive, perfect for photographers wanting to capture that historical atmosphere, or anyone who enjoys exploring a wreck with a genuine sense of the past. The shallow depth means plenty of bottom time, so you can really take your time poking around. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best light and fewer other divers.
