HMS Kashmir - Crete

The Betonschiff von Redentin is one of those Baltic wrecks we always make time for. It’s a concrete ship, which sounds odd, but makes for an interesting dive. You’ll find it just off Bornholm, a real ghost ship resting in surprisingly shallow water. What we love about this one is how the light plays through the hull's fractured sections, casting these eerie, shifting patterns. It’s a photographer's dream. The concrete has become a rough, textured canvas for the local marine life – lots of common sea stars clinging to the bulkheads and the occasional flat periwinkle grazing the algae. We’ve seen common shore crabs scuttling over the broken decks, and the visibility, while it can be temperamental, often gifts you views down the entire length of the hull. This site is brilliant for divers who appreciate the unique history of these wartime vessels and enjoy a relaxed exploration without deep current concerns. Our favourite part is navigating the interior, imagining the ship in its working days.
