Wreck of HMHS Llandovery Castle - South Coast

Alright, let’s talk about the *Graf Zeppelin*. Forget your warm water wrecks for a minute, because this is something else entirely. Diving the *Zeppelin* off Bornholm, you’re not just exploring a sunken ship, you’re touching a piece of history that never quite made it to sea. We love the sheer scale of the thing. It’s a beast, even in its broken state, resting deep in the Baltic. The visibility here can be challenging, often on the darker side, but that just adds to the atmosphere. You’ll feel the chill as you descend, and then the massive, ghostly silhouette of the carrier starts to emerge. Think immense steel plates, twisted girders, and bulkheads that hint at the grandeur it was meant to be. Our favourite parts are the propeller shafts – truly colossal – and the remnants of what would have been the flight deck. It's an imposing, somber dive. You’ll see plenty of Atlantic cod and whiting darting through the structure, and the occasional four-bearded rockling tucked into crevices. This isn’t a coral reef, obviously; it's about the structure and the story. It’s a deep dive, usually reserved for experienced technical divers with proper cold-water gear and a healthy respect for the conditions. We'd suggest aiming for late summer for the best chance of slightly calmer seas, but be prepared for a real Baltic adventure. This wreck demands respect, and it certainly delivers a unique experience.
