GARTH - Cornwall & Devon
The Garth, a dredger that went down in 1946, now rests in a shallow spot off the Cornish coast. It’s a site that's more about the history and the sheer accessibility than massive depths. We found the wreck itself is quite broken up, but you can still pick out pieces of machinery and hull plates, all encrusted with local anemones and a surprising amount of wrasse darting in and out. Because it’s so shallow, around 3 metres, it’s a brilliant spot for newer divers getting a feel for wreck diving, or even for a relaxed second dive. Visibility can be a typical Cornish mixed bag, but on a good day, it's a calm and interesting explore.
