Broad Bank - Nova Scotia

Wilson Reef, off the coast of Queensland, is one of those places we keep coming back to. Forget some of the more famous spots; Wilson hits differently. We usually drop in on the eastern side, letting the gentle current carry us along a sloping wall that’s just bursting with staghorn corals. Seriously, these aren’t just small patches; they’re vast, intricate forests, stretching out so far you can’t quite see where they end. Keep an eye out for the green turtles, they’re almost always munching on the seagrass patches closer to the top of the reef. We’ve had incredible luck spotting Flatback Sea Turtles too, often just cruising by in the bluer water. If you get here in the morning, the light catches the Chinese lettuce corals beautifully, making them glow. It’s a gentle dive, suited to anyone comfortable with a bit of current, and it’s perfect for just soaking it all in rather than chasing after specific big pelagics. We think it’s best for appreciating the sheer scale and health of the coral structures.
