El Bajo Sea Mounts - Sea of Cortez

El Bajo is a classic Sea of Cortez pinnacle dive, an underwater mountain rising from the deep. We usually drop onto the shallower parts, around 18-20 meters, and then work our way around its edges. It’s where you go hoping for the big stuff: hammerheads often cruise the blue here, particularly in the cooler months. Even without the sharks, you'll find plenty of pelagic action, schooling jacks, and tunas flashing past. Currents can be stiff, so it's best suited for intermediate divers comfortable drifting and managing their buoyancy in moving water.
