Récif du Météore - Gulf of Tadjoura

Galgerev is definitely one of our favourites along the Danish North Sea coast, a proper standout. We love that feeling of dropping into the relatively shallow water and immediately being surrounded by a flurry of smaller life. It’s not about huge pelagics here, but the sheer density of it. Think intricate little ecosystems; we’ve spent ages just watching common shore crabs scuttling amongst the rocks, or delicate bristleworms waving their tentacles. What makes Galgerev special is its unexpected vibrancy. You often find a carpet of blue mussels, and if you’re patient, the eelgrass beds can reveal so much. We’ve had fantastic encounters with velvet scoters and long-tailed ducks feeding overhead, their shapes rippling on the surface. For divers who appreciate the subtle beauty of temperate waters, and don't mind a bit of a current push on an incoming tide, Galgerev is brilliant. We’d suggest going on a slack tide for the best chance to really take it all in.
