FERRETTE - Tyre

The Ferrette is a proper old-school wreck, sitting upright in just seven metres of water off Tyre’s coast. We love a shallow wreck, especially one with a bit of history attached, and this old steamship delivers. She’s surprisingly intact for her age, a British vessel sunk during World War I, and her bow points towards the shore, stern out to sea. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the light, streaming through the superstructure, picking out the detail of the metalwork. You can fin right over the deck, peering into cargo holds and around the collapsed mast. Schools of silversides often shimmer just above the wreck, creating these incredible, reflective clouds. Look closely and you’ll find plenty of resident critters – moray eels tucked into crevices, nudibranchs crawling along the plating, and small groupers lurking in the shadows. We’d suggest going early in the morning to catch the best light and avoid any boat traffic. It’s a great dive for anyone who loves exploring history without needing deep dive qualifications, offering a relaxed pace with plenty to see.
