MAHROUS - Tyre

Okay, so the Mahrous. Forget your deep wreck dives; this is a completely different beast, and honestly, we love it for that. She’s a wooden vessel, sat shallow in Tyre, reportedly sunk by mortar fire in Beirut port, then moved here. The historical whispers around her make the dive even more interesting. What you get is a shipwreck, barely five metres down, just perfect for a long, relaxed dive, or even a snorkel if you’re not geared up. It’s remarkably intact for a wooden boat, the hull still largely defined, and you can swim right over the decking. We always find something new each time we visit, a different angle of light hitting the timbers. Look closely in the crevices and you’ll spot small schooling fish, a few blennies, and some surprisingly large sea slugs clinging to the wood. It’s not about grand pelagics here; it's about the texture, the history, and the quiet life that has claimed this old boat. It’s our pick for a really easy, rewarding second dive of the day, or for anyone wanting to get up close with a wreck without the pressure of depth or currents. The visibility is usually excellent, so you get to appreciate every detail.
