Flamingo Beach: Side Entry - Daymaniyat Islands
Flamingo Beach: Side Entry, now this is one of our favourites in the Daymaniyats. It’s not just the sheer number of species, though 153 is nothing to sneeze at; it’s the sense of quiet discovery you get here. We love dropping in and tracing the gentle slope, keeping an eye out for loggerhead turtles that often glide by with surprising grace. The corals here really tell a story. You’ll see big, sprawling colonies of star column coral and pagoda coral, alongside more delicate pinkfish and feathered cones. It’s a riot of texture and shape. Look closely among the wrinkle coral and leptastrea for the Ocellated Plesiops, they’re masters of disguise and a real treat to spot. Our insider tip? Go early morning if you can. The light catches the spine coral just right, and the common hairy crabs are often more active, scuttling about their business. It’s a mellow dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who likes to take their time and truly absorb the details of the reef.
