Sanganeb Reef, marked by that striking grey British lighthouse, feels like a proper expedition. We’ve climbed that imperial relic on a surface interval, picturing its former glory. Underwater, though, it’s all about the pelagics. Rising sharply from depths of 800m, the reef is a magnet for serious open-water action. Think barracuda schooling, the occasional reef shark cruising the wall, and often hammerheads if you’re lucky with the currents. It’s a site for experienced divers who appreciate remote, untouched reef systems and the thrill of encountering big fish in their element.
