Diving Planet - Santa Marta & Tayrona
The team at Diving Planet are our pick for diving out of Santa Marta and into the Tayrona National Park. We’ve always appreciated their relaxed, efficient vibe. They run a tight ship without ever making you feel rushed, which is perfect when you’re on vacation. They specialise in daily boat trips that hit the best of Tayrona’s protected sites. We especially love the afternoon dives; sometimes the light filters through the water just so, illuminating schools of sardines. Keep an eye out for green moray eels tucked into the rocky crevices and the occasional turtle gliding past. The boat rides themselves are often just as enjoyable, with views of the lush, green coastline. A heads-up: Tayrona can get busy, especially on weekends. We’d suggest aiming for weekday dives if you prefer fewer boats around. The currents are generally mild, making it a great spot for newer divers, but there are some deeper walls for those looking to extend their bottom time. Diving Planet knows these waters intimately, so you’re always in good hands.
