PEACOCK - Santa Marta & Tayrona
The Peacock wreck sits upright at 30 metres, a tugboat that’s seen better days, but that’s precisely what makes it interesting. We love how the hull is breaking apart in places, creating these small swim-throughs and jagged edges that add a bit of drama. You can drop onto the deck, usually with some schooling jacks circling, and then explore the engine room if you’re comfortable with overhead environments. The wreck itself isn’t huge, but it’s dense with life; we’ve spotted morays peeking from every hole, and the resident groupers here are particularly chunky. This site is definitely for advanced divers, given the depth and the occasional current that sweeps through, adding a bit of a challenge. Our tip: go early in the morning before the day boats arrive, you’ll have the whole place to yourself.
