The team at Scubanautics Diving Academy are the real deal, operating out of Rockingham with a solid reputation for getting divers into the local waters safely and confidently. We often hear new divers rave about how well they’re looked after, which, for us, is the mark of a good outfit. If you’re looking to get certified, especially if you're a bit nervous, these are your people. They run a smooth operation, from gear to boat trips, and it’s always a good vibe on deck. We love that they really focus on making new divers comfortable. Our favourite trips with them have been to the various wrecks and reefs just off Rockingham – the Omeo wreck is always a good time, shallow and loaded with schooling fish. Keep an eye out for the resident blue groper. For something a bit deeper, they also head out to more exposed sites when conditions are right, where you can feel the push of the Indian Ocean and see bigger pelagics cruising by. Don't be shy about asking for tips on reading the local currents; they've got decades of experience. Just remember, WA diving can be a bit rugged, so expect cooler water and bring your 5mm.
