Lime Kiln, Carriacou - Carriacou

Office holds a special place in our logbooks. We always push for it when the conditions are right, even with the 30-minute boat ride. It’s a series of ledges and sandy channels, dropping to around 25 metres, and what we really love are the upper sections. That's where you find the manta cleaning stations. You can drift past and watch these huge, graceful animals hover, letting the smaller fish get to work. We’ve seen them countless times here, sometimes four or five in a single dive, their wingtips almost brushing the sand. Beyond the mantas, the ledges hide some real treasures. Look for the Potato Bass lurking under overhangs, and we’ve often spotted Leopard Sharks camouflaged in the sand channels. The reef itself has a healthy population of fusiliers and trevally, constantly on the move. Visibility averages 15 metres, which is decent enough for the scale of the site. This is a site for divers who appreciate big animal encounters and aren't afraid of a bit of an open ocean journey to get there.
