LADY ANGELA - St. Vincent

The Lady Angela is a bit of a St. Vincent staple for good reason. We love a good schooner wreck, and this one, sunk in 1975, has settled nicely at the northern tip of Bequia, right where it ran aground. It’s pretty shallow, which means lots of light, even on a cloudy day, and that just makes the colours pop. When you drop in, you’re looking at what’s left of a proper wooden sailing vessel. You can still make out the bow and stern, and the ribs are largely intact, creating these fantastic swim-throughs. Schools of silversides often shimmer through the open hull, flashing in the sun, and sometimes you’ll see a large tarpon cruising the perimeter. Look closely in the nooks and crannies of the decking and mast for frogfish or a camouflaged scorpionfish. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who likes to take their time exploring a piece of history that’s now home to the reef.
