Sun DIvers - Roatán

The team at Sun Divers are exactly the kind of people you want to dive with in Roatán. Their setup at Half Moon Bay is low-key, but don't let that fool you. They run a tight ship, particularly when it comes to their conservation efforts, which we really appreciate. If you're looking to get certified, or want to level up with your Advanced Open Water, they’re a solid choice. Our favourite thing about them is the vibe – no ego, just good divers who genuinely love being in the water and sharing that with you. We've spent more than a few afternoons on their boat, heading out to the north shore sites. The short ride means more time finning around pinnacles covered in tube sponges and barrel sponges, listening to the parrotfish crunching away. We’ve seen everything from hawksbill turtles munching on corals to eagle rays gliding past in the blue. They keep groups small, which means you’re not fighting for space on the reef, and the dive guides have a keen eye for the smaller stuff, nudibranchs and blennies tucked into crevices. Ask them about the best time for spotting schooling tarpon; it’s often an early morning or late afternoon trip. Their commitment to the Coral Reef Ambassador specialty course also stands out; it’s a tangible way to make your dive trip count for more than just bottom time.
