Papua Drop Off - Rarotonga

San Clemente, a Cozumel standout, is often overlooked for its flashier neighbours, but we love it as a quiet last-dive spot, especially in the late afternoon. It’s a shallow barrier reef, mostly flat, but with enough nooks and crannies to keep your eyes busy. We've spent many an hour here watching collared eels poke their heads from the sand and spotting cave bass tucked into rocky overhangs. Keep an eye out for the vibrant finger coral - it's beautiful and home to tiny critters. This site is ideal for photographers looking for macro subjects or divers wanting a relaxed drift over abundant hard coral. Visibility here is usually good, around 26 meters, and the currents are typically mild, making it a comfortable dive. We particularly enjoy scanning the manatee grass for juvenile hogfish or a camouflaged Caribbean spiny lobster.
