La source - Moorea & Tahiti

La Source is one of those sites we always recommend to newer divers in Moorea. It’s got a gentle flow, making it easy to drift along without working too hard. We love just relaxing into the current, letting it carry us past the massive Cauliflower coral colonies that blanket the reef. The light here often filters down in these soft, diffuse rays – it’s really something special, especially mid-morning. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff hiding amongst the coral. We often spot Brilliant Red Hawkfish perched perfectly still, watching us with those intense eyes. The parrotfish, especially the big Blue and Dusky ones, are always busy munching away, leaving little puffs of sand in their wake. It’s a gentle introduction to Moorea’s underwater world, a great place to get comfortable before tackling some of the island’s more exposed sites.
