Le tombant Gorgognes - Moorea & Tahiti

Le tombant Gorgognes, just off Moorea, is one of those places that genuinely delivers on its name. The wall itself is riddled with gorgonian fans, some stretching over a metre wide, creating this stunning purple and orange tapestry against the deep blue. We love drifting along here, keeping an eye out for the smaller inhabitants; it’s a great spot for spotting a tiny Scaledcheek Goby tucked into a coral crevice or a shy Coral Beauty darting between the branches. Our favourite part has to be the overhangs, often sheltering schools of Big-eye trevally that will swirl around you in a dazzling silver cloud. Don’t rush this dive. Take your time to really explore the wall. Look for the Bennett's and Chameleon Parrotfish grazing on the corals. The currents here are usually gentle, making for a relaxed drift, perfect for photographers wanting to capture those wide-angle shots of the wall or macro enthusiasts searching for the elusive Reticulated Venus shell. It’s a dive that rewards a slow pace and keen eyes.
