Les Roses - Moorea & Tahiti

Les Roses is one of those spots in Moorea that just keeps giving. We love it because the reef here is absolutely packed, not just with fish, but with a real mix of things you don't always spot elsewhere. Drop down and you're immediately amongst schools of manini, thick enough to make you feel like you're swimming through a living curtain. We often see honeycomb groupers lurking, and if you take your time, you'll spot some gorgeous angelfish and butterlyfish like the sickle and redfin, just cruising the coral. What makes it special for us is the variety in the smaller stuff. Keep an eye out for spotted hawkfish perched on corals, and we’ve had some fantastic encounters with celebes longfin eels out in the open. It’s a fantastic site for macro too, look for the tiny banded toby and those dwarf planaxis snails. We’d suggest going in the late morning, the light hitting the reef around then really brings out the colours, especially on the transverse corals. Stronger currents can pick up here, so be ready for a drift, but it usually just means more action. This site is brilliant for divers who appreciate a dense, busy reef and are happy to slow down and look closely.
