Papa Whisky - Moorea & Tahiti

If you're diving in Moorea, Papa Whisky should be on your list, especially if you appreciate a good wreck. It's an old WWII seaplane, a Douglas C-47, sunk decades ago. We find the plane remarkably intact, resting upright on the sandy bottom. You can peer into the cockpit and the main cabin, imagining its past life. The plane itself is a magnet for the smaller reef fish. We often spot schools of Blackfin Chromis darting around the wings, and the False-eyed Pufferfish like to hang out in the fuselage. Keep an eye out for Delicate Blennies peeking from crevices in the coral that's started to grow on the airframe. The Staghorn coral around the wreck is doing well, which is always good to see. It's a pretty chill dive, generally little to no current, making it perfect for photographers or anyone who likes to take their time exploring. We usually recommend it for those who appreciate history and macro life over big pelagics.
