Embudu Kandu - South Malé Atoll

Embudu Kandu, for us, is one of those classic Maldivian channels that just delivers. You drop in and drift along, eyes peeled. The current here can be a proper ride, pushing you past the reef wall where we often spot Sunburst Butterflyfish darting in and out of the stony coral. We’ve had dives where the visibility just opens up, letting you see schools of fusiliers so thick they almost block the light. It's a proper channel dive, so suitable for divers comfortable with a bit of pace. What really sticks with us about Embudu Kandu is the sheer variety on the reef face. Look closely for the Delicate Blenny peeking out from its hole, or the Chestnut Blenny for that matter. We always keep an eye out for the Peppered and Small-eyed Squirrelfish tucked under ledges. And if you have the time, slowing down in the shallower parts reveals the False Brown Moray or the brightly coloured Two-tone Wrasse. It's a site that rewards both the wide-angle enthusiast and the macro hunter.
