Light House Wreck - Sodwana Bay

The Light House Wreck, sitting at a comfortable 18 metres, is one of our favourite easy dives in Sodwana. It’s a great introduction to wreck diving, particularly if you’re still getting comfortable with buoyancy. We love just how much of the wreck is still recognisable; you can really make out the ship’s structure, which sparks a bit of imagination about its past. This isn't just a pile of metal. The wreck is essentially a big apartment block for fish. Schools of glassfish shimmer through open sections, and we often spot moray eels peeking from crevices. Keep an eye out for curious batfish, they’re almost always hanging around the superstructure. The bow section is particularly intact, offering some nice swim-throughs if you're careful and properly trained. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light filters down beautifully through the upper sections, illuminating all the small critters hiding in the shadows. It’s a wonderfully approachable wreck, perfect for a relaxed dive where you can take your time exploring and observing.
