Pisces Diving - Sodwana Bay

Pisces is one of those sites we always aim for on an early morning dive. Dropping in, you often find yourself surrounded by a school of sardines, a shimmering, silver curtain that can momentarily blot out the sun. The reef itself isn't a dramatic wall, more a series of gentle slopes and bommies, but it’s the smaller stuff, and the pelagics, that really grab you here. We've spent entire safety stops watching black spotted garden eels sway in the current like synchronized swimmers. Keep an eye out for the more unusual finds, too; we’ve spotted Roughridge pipefish tucked into the honeycomb coral and even the rarely seen Prodigal Son darting past. If you like a drift, the current can pick up, which means less effort and more chance of seeing dorado or a sleek narrow-barred Spanish mackerel cruise by. It's a site that rewards patience and a good guide who knows where the shyest creatures, like the Flowery Flounder, like to settle in the sand.
