Two Mile Reef - Sodwana Bay

If you’re only diving one reef in Sodwana, Two Mile is probably the one we’d suggest. It’s got a reputation for a reason, and it’s a great introduction to what the bay offers. You’ll spend most of your time between 10 and 18 metres, cruising over huge coral bommies packed with life. We love watching the flashers, those tiny wrasse darting around, flaring their fins at each other – a real highlight if you stop and watch. Look closely and you might spot a Longnose Hawkfish perched on a coral branch, or an Australian Bluespotted Maskray tucked into the sand. Potato bass sometimes make an appearance, gliding past with their big, curious eyes. We’ve also seen plenty of Short-tail Stingrays here, buried in the sand, just their eyes peeking out. Current can be a factor, so listen to the briefing, but it's generally manageable for newer divers. The sheer density of schooling fish, like the fusiliers and bannerfish, is what makes it special; sometimes they’re so thick they actually dim the light. It's an easy-going dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak in the reef.
