Mnemba Sandbanks - Zanzibar & Pemba

Pos 1 in Bali is one of those sites that quietly delivers, especially for newer divers or those who just want a relaxed afternoon in the water. We love starting right from the beach, fins already on, wading into that gentle slope. The sandy bottom at first feels a bit like a training ground, but hang in there. Head left, and about six meters in, you hit a surprisingly vibrant patch of coral. It’s not a wall, it’s more of an undulating garden, dotted with plenty of Staghorn coral. We’ve spent hours here just watching the Yellowstripe Monocle Bream sift through the sand, and if you’re patient, you might spot a Spined Fiddler Crab scuttling in the shallows. The visibility averages around 15 metres, which is perfectly good for spotting the resident Banded Sea Kraits snaking their way between the bommies. It’s an easy, calm dive, never deeper than 16 metres, making it ideal for anyone getting comfortable with their buoyancy, or even just blowing bubbles for the first time.
