D/S Romanby - Lofoten Islands

The D/S Romanby is a real Lofoten standout for us, a wreck dive that really delivers a sense of history. We love that it’s sitting upright and mostly intact at 24 metres, which makes for a pretty comfortable dive profile. Dropping onto her bow, you can still make out the anchor chains leading down to the sand, and the deck guns are quite something, draped in anemones. We always spend time exploring the holds; they’re open and easy to penetrate, often full of small cod darting between the beams. The bridge structure is broken but still identifiable, and if you’ve got a good torch, you’ll spot wolfish tucked into crevices. This isn't a colourful reef, but the sheer size of the wreck and the way the cold water has preserved her, combined with the moody Lofoten light filtering down, makes it a genuinely atmospheric dive. It’s perfect for intermediate wreck divers looking for a piece of wartime history rather than a coral garden.
