CAROLINE - Balearic Islands

The Caroline is one of those Balearic wrecks that just makes you smile. It’s a small yacht, a compact little beauty sitting upright in just six metres of water. We love it because it’s so accessible, perfect for a relaxed dive or even a snorkel if you’re just passing by. You can peek into the cockpit, imagine the helmsman, and then watch the light play off the prop shaft. What we really enjoy here is how quickly the marine life has moved in. Schools of glinting damselfish dart around the superstructure, and we’ve often spotted octopus tucked into crevices near the bow. It’s a fantastic spot for photographers looking for an easy subject without the usual deep-water hassle. If you hit it on a calm morning, the visibility can be superb, making the whole wreck glow. Our advice? Go early, before the boat traffic picks up.

Wreck History - CAROLINE

Vessel Type
unknown
Cause
unknown

The Caroline is a modern yacht wreck located in the famously clear waters of the Balearic Islands. With very little historical information available, the story of how and when she sank remains a mystery. What is known is that she now rests in just 6 metres of water, with parts of her hull and superstructure breaking the surface, making her an unmissable feature for anyone exploring the local coastline.

This wreck offers a perfect dive for beginners, photographers, and those looking for a relaxed and shallow exploration. The lack of depth allows for long bottom times and brilliant natural light, illuminating the transformation of this man-made object into a vibrant artificial reef. Fish have taken up residence within its structure, and the hull is likely decorated with colourful algae and invertebrates. The Caroline provides a beautiful and serene dive, proving that a wreck doesn't need a dramatic history to be a captivating underwater site.
