Don Pedro Wreck - Balearic Islands

The *Don Pedro* wreck isn't just another sunken ship; it’s a proper behemoth, and we love how much there is to explore. Dropping down onto the deck, you really get a sense of its scale. It’s huge, a freighter that went down in 2007, making it a fairly new addition to the Balearic underwater scene. We usually start our dive exploring the massive propeller, which is always an impressive sight, then slowly make our way along the stern, peering into the cargo holds. They’re wide open, almost inviting, but remember this is a penetration dive for experienced hands only. Even if you stick to the exterior, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Schools of barracuda often patrol the upper decks, shimmering like liquid silver, and we’ve seen some seriously chunky groupers lurking in the shadows of the wheelhouse. The sheer size of the wreck means you’ll need multiple dives to really appreciate it; trying to do it all in one go is just rushing it. Current can be a factor here, especially on certain tides, so keep an eye on the dive flag and listen to the briefing. This wreck is definitely for divers who appreciate big metal and the marine life that eventually claims it.
