LA MARIANA - Balearic Islands

La Mariana sits upright, a fishing vessel that met its end at 33 metres, now a true diver’s wreck. For us, it’s not about some grand historical tale, but the sheer joy of exploring a structure that feels genuinely lived-in by the sea. You’ll weave through the superstructure, noticing how the light changes as you pass over hatches and into the shadow of the wheelhouse. Our favourite part is the engine room access, an inviting dark rectangle that draws you in for a quick peek at the machinery, now completely encrusted. We've seen some hefty groupers lurking in the holds, and the schools of damselfish that pulse around the mast are just beautiful. Visibility here can vary, so we'd suggest picking a calm day to really appreciate the scale. This site is a fantastic playground for advanced open water divers who appreciate a proper wreck dive, not just a reef with a bit of metal on it.
