Flying Divers - West Coast (Gothenburg)

We’re not going to lie, the Flying Divers site near Gothenburg is one of our favourites for a proper dose of Nordic diving. Forget your tropical blues, this is all about the crisp, cool embrace of the North Sea. The entry can be a bit of a scramble over rocks, so watch your footing, but once you’re in, it’s worth the effort. Down below, the visibility usually hovers around 5-10 metres on a good day, but don't let that put you off. It adds to the atmosphere, a kind of ethereal glow. We love drifting through the kelp forests, those long fronds swaying with the surge, creating a real sense of being in an alien landscape. Keep an eye out for Arch-fronted Swimming Crabs scuttling across the seabed, and the almost fluorescent North Sea Tube Anemones clinging to the rocks. It’s also a great spot for spotting dab and bull rout camouflaged against the sand. You might even stumble upon patches of eelgrass, where you can often find smaller fish darting for cover. This site is best for divers who appreciate the unique, rugged beauty of cold-water environments and aren't afraid of a bit of a challenge. It's a proper dive, not a stroll.
