KARLSO - West Coast (Gothenburg)

Karlsö is an old fishing vessel, nothing grand, but she’s got character. We love her for that. Sunk way back in '67, she rests in just two meters of water, making her the perfect spot for a leisurely snorkel or a really shallow dive when you’re just in the mood to drift. You can see her stern poking out of the surface on calm days, which is always a cool sight. What we really appreciate about Karlsö is how accessible she is, and how much life she supports in such a modest depth. The old wooden hull is now home to countless little critters. Look for small crabs scuttling over the planks and tiny gobies darting into crevices. We’ve even spotted juvenile cod hiding amongst the seaweed that’s taken root. It’s a gentle exploration, perfect for photographers wanting to practice close-up shots without fighting current or depth. Go on a sunny afternoon; the light plays beautifully through the water, illuminating the wreck and all its residents.
