MARCONI - West Coast (Gothenburg)

Marconi, off the Swedish West Coast, is a proper wreck dive, sitting upright at 38 metres. She’s a trawler, sank in the 1960s, and because of that cold North Sea water, she’s remarkably well preserved. We love how intact the superstructure is, with railings still in place and even some gear on deck. It’s dark down there, naturally, so good lights are essential to pick out the details – the bow points north, and the stern section is our favourite for exploring, often sheltering a respectable congregation of cod and wrasse. Penetration is possible if you’re experienced and have the right training, but honestly, there’s plenty to see on the exterior, picking through the deck machinery and scanning for the resident wolf fish that sometimes peek out from under ledges. Visibility can swing wildly; we’ve had days of 20 metres and others where it’s more like five, so be prepared for a real adventure. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration, suited for advanced divers comfortable with depth and colder conditions.
